ICON got us involved in a very exciting project indeed. Wrexham A.F.C. a club with a rich history and passionate supporters, scaling the pyramid with their sprinkling of Hollywood stardust, needed to deliver world-class store graphics to match their ambition to be world-class. We were ecstatic to work with ICON and provide our well-founded expertise and bring Wrexham’s new store in Eagles Meadow shopping centre to life. There was a focus on paying homage to their roots whilst emphasising the exciting modern era of the club through innovative design, precise production and expert installation. All turned round in time for the new kit launch as they embark on life in the Championship.
The Wrexham project encompasses our wide range of signage capabilities. From utilising simple yet effective high tack vinyl lettering to enable wayfinding, so fans can glance up and see where they go to get their shirt printed, to a complex application, in cladding a pre-existing ceiling raft with aluminium that greets the supporters and makes them feel at home as soon as they walk in. One of the challenges was how best to take advantage of the neon built into the raft. We therefore catered our design to compliment it using strong contrast in our artwork and exposing the metal on the ceiling, then laying down safety-conscious and robust self adhesive vinyl flooring which resulted in a strong and considered approach to branding, breathing life into the store. Elsewhere internally, the ever-popular rafa canvas provided a way to cover walls with vibrant graphics. Intelligently produced to have no joins or overlaps to help create an inviting and immersive space for fans to try on their merchandise, referencing both the good old days and the achievements of today.
Externally, the club from North Wales were in the safe hands of signage specialists. A mammoth glazing manifestation was used to help the club's branding stand out in a busy commercial area. A considered approach was used. Thorough surveying and intuitive design let the typography of the Welsh club to blossom . The use of smoked transparent window film allows natural light to flourish internally and provide subtle window graphics to those bobbing down the high street. Vertical fins were installed and constructed through aluminium panels in the rich powder-coated red to help the clubs colours flourish as well as the longevity of the signage. This wasn’t the only example of meticulous planning, with a sign tray plastered with the Wrexham branding on the store’s fascia and high tack, weather-proof vinyl wrapped around the column below it. In conclusion, we think it looks deed good.
